As mayor, how do you deal with the stress of the job?
“Surrounding myself with excellent people manages my stress level. You’re going to be criticized. However, knowing in your heart you’re making good decisions and planning for the best interest of the City helps keep me optimistic and confident. It’s also important for me to be patient. I’m used to making decisions which can be implemented immediately – the government process is much slower than the private sector. Pushing timelines up has become routine, yet I will never change my sense of urgency. I am often told that Government is slow, but that doesn’t mean we have to be!”
